91.9/91.5 The Family’s ‘Help for the Homeless’ Tops $273,000!
59 Local Crisis & Homeless Agencies Receive Hygiene Items from Their Communities
Appleton, WI –91.9/91.5 The Family: 91.9/91.5 The Family completed their 22nd annual ‘Help for the Homeless’ hygiene drive last week as hundreds of volunteers throughout Northeast Wisconsin retrieved donations from 650 area businesses, churches and schools - totaling more than $273,000 worth of personal hygiene and cleaning supplies for their area crisis agencies. The event also takes place in The Family’s 88.5FM listening area in Central Wisconsin where 24 more agencies received $62,000 worth of product within their communities.
The final total of all Help for the Homeless hygiene donations in all communities this spring is $335,000, collected from 850 donation sites and benefitting 83 agencies.
“When clients don’t have to worry about how they’re are going to buy diapers for their children or where they’ll take their next shower, they can begin to focus on their bigger goals like housing and employment and move forward in their journey towards stability.
The items you donate are directly used by our clients, and we rely on your generosity to meet the basic needs of our shelter clients for the entire year. We appreciate your support of this drive because it helps us to meet our client’s basic needs the minute they walk in our facility. Thank you!” - Carrie Schatzman, House of Hope
91.9/91.5 The Family works together with area homeless coalitions to collect hygiene supplies such as laundry soap, hair and dental care items, diapers, and other personal care and cleaning products for area crisis agencies, so that the agencies can dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, housing, food, education, and counseling to those they serve. The goal of Help for the Homeless is to supply a year’s worth of products to each agency.
On behalf of the participating crisis agencies and those they serve - thanks to the generous people at all collection sites and the hundreds of volunteers and area businesses who donated their time, trucks, staff, printing services, boxes, sanctuaries and gymnasiums – all of the campaign's needs were met with breathtaking generosity. Thank you Northeast Wisconsin! Help for the Homeless will be back next spring. More info at thefamily.net or 800-236-9364
