44 Local Crisis & Homeless Agencies Receive Help from Their Communities

Appleton, WI –91.9/91.5 The Family: 91.9/91.5 The Family completed their 20th annual 'Help for the Homeless' hygiene drive last week as hundreds of volunteers throughout Northeast Wisconsin retrieved donations from 900 collection boxes at 610 area businesses, churches and schools - totaling more than $246,000 worth of personal hygiene and cleaning supplies.

The items were sorted, counted and delivered to 44 area crisis agencies - where they're now safely tucked away to meet the needs of their clients in the coming year - people who may be in crisis or homeless, but thanks to this community, not without hope.

Check out the link below for some pictures of the event:

Help the Homeless Slide Show

"We are overcome by the raw emotion of immense gratitude. At COTS, every day we provide help to those who come to us with little more than the clothes on their back. When they join our program, we give them a "Welcome to COTS" bag filled with deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and assorted other hygiene items. This simple bag of products is the reassuring first step toward a better future. What a blessing to live in a community that cares so much for each other! - Laura Erickson, COTS Inc.

Help for the Homeless works together with the homeless coalitions in the Fox Valley, Brown County, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Manitowoc to provide supplies such as laundry soap, hair and dental care items, diapers, and other personal care and cleaning products so that they can dedicate their limited financial resources to provide qualified personnel, safe housing, nutritious food, education, and counseling to those they serve. The goal of Help for the Homeless is to supply a year's worth of products to each agency.

91.9/91.5 The Family sincerely thanks the generous people at all participating collection sites as well as the hundreds of volunteers and area businesses who donated their time, trucks, staff, printing presses, boxes, sanctuaries and gymnasiums – all of the campaign needs were met with breathtaking generosity. Thank you Northeast Wisconsin!
